The Canon 7D is an 18-megapixel semi-pro DSLR that shoots 1080p video in 24—or 30—glorious frames per second
The 7D feels like Canon took the results of a survey they handed out to people about what they wanted in a camera and crammed ‘em all into one product targeted at semi-pros. Full HD video with manual exposure in 24, 25 or 30 frames per second, check. More rugged, weatherproof body than 5D.

If you cut it to 720p, you can shoot up to 60FPS. Also, video is encoded using H.264 now. There’s a dedicated switch to flip from shooting stills to video that encircles a start/stop button for recording, so it’s much easier to get right to shooting video than the 5D.

Focusing system has 19 cross-type points, with a new way to focus in addition to the usual full-blast autofocus vs. single-point—zones, which are clusters of points. You can also lock different default focus points for horizontal and vertical orientations, so you can turn the camera back and worth without having to repick your focus point. (Setting it up is a little confusing—even the Canon rep took a minute to make it happen.) AI servo focus is supposedly smarter, so it tracks moving objects better, and it works with a new light-source detection system that adjusts for flickering light. (We didn’t get a chance to check that out.)
The viewfinder provides 100 percent coverage, like the 1Ds, and it uses a new polymer LCD network with a different graphics overlay than the 5D—that’s a lot like what Nikon’s got in the D300, In a first for Canon, the built-in, wide-coverage flash can command other wireless flash modules.

What you must do is to resolve within yourself what are your priorities when purchasing a new Digital Rebel.

Oh, almost forgot to tell you. But you probably know already. There is no Rebel X1i. . . yet.

I have no idea how the camera makers are equipped with cameras in their names, but it certainly is not clear, is not it?

There is a long line of rebel digital, from the original Digital Rebel 300D. At that time there were combinations of 3 characters to remember, as XSi, XT1 or JQ2. These letters are difficult to keep in mind if you do not already have one of the devices they represent. One thing has remained constant is the number system that Canon uses. It ’started with the Rebel 300D, and each new voice added 50. Then there was the Digital Rebel 350D, 400D, and now we are up to the 500D is the T1i.

So this article really know if you need to buy a Digital Rebel 450D and 500D.

Historically, Canon has added to the Rebel line of cameras every 2 years.

Each new item have been some significant improvements over its predecessor.

That is, until you get the latest offering, which hit the market about a year after the previous version.

OK, it seems that I am totally against the Digital Rebel T1i.

But it is not.

I think both cameras would be a great fit for anyone but extreme amateur or professional photographer.

Digital Rebels have always given them the fantastic images. Mine certainly did. And these devices are not different. Both are highly recommended.

We hope that you are better informed today than you were. Buying a new camera has always been an exciting adventure for me. There are so many options and features that guests techy look pro. But, in my opinion, it all boils down to this – that the photo does not do what you do.

Aperture

The maximum aperture of the lens you choose can have a significant impact on the types of photos you can take with your digital SLR camera.

Smaller Aperture Number (1.4) = Wider Aperture = More Light

Larger Aperture Number (16) = Narrower Aperture = Less Light

Maximum Aperture

The limit to how wide a lens can be opened is called the maximum aperture.

All lens apertures can be narrowed as much as you want. For example, every lens on the market today – regardless of manufacturer – can be set to f/16.

But every lens on the market cannot be opened up to f/1.4

Lens A might have a maximum aperture of f/2.8 while lens B will have a maximum aperture of f/4. While both lenses can be set to an aperture of f/8 (narrower than the maximum setting) the f/4 lens cannot be opened up to f/2.8.

Natural Light Photos

A digital SLR camera sensor needs light to create an image.

There are two ways that it can get the light that it needs: it can keep the shutter open for a long period of time or open the aperture as wide as possible.

If you had a lens with more a maximum aperture Then you can use more a shutter speed which means that you can get clear photos without the flash.

Fast Shutter Speeds

Example: You set the aperture on your lens as wide as it can go (let’s say f/5.6), and check the shutter speed. The camera tells you that you can use a shutter speed of 1/125 of a second

If you had a lens with a wider maximum aperture you could get the shot. With a wider aperture (say f/2.8) your shutter speed could be 1/500 of a second.

Since the wide aperture lets in so much light, the shutter doesn’t have to stay open as long.

Reduced Depth of Field

Lenses with wide maximum apertures have shallow depth of field.

If you have a lens with a maximum aperture of f/5.6, you can’t reduce the depth of field as much as you can with a wider aperture.

Nature and portrait photographers use Wider Aperture all the time to reduce the impact of a busy background.

This is likely something designed to quietly drive us towards the video/still camera fashion of which the 5D mkII is the future I am sure. I have to admit that I was at first somewhat concerned of how sharp the images looked at the full resolution. I shoot with the 24-105 F4/L and 70-200 F/4L and both of these lenses look incredibly sharp on my 30D. Nonetheless, I consider now that it’s the software that is to blame, To be fair, I have never been really impressed with Canon’s software systems and I am pleased that Adobe released Camera RAW 4. 6 to permit me to return to Bridge and Photoshop.
I trust that Lightroom 2. 1 arrives soon as that’s my normal line of work, as well as my image management application program. The JPEG files managed in camera are fine. . . that’s until you discover what the RAW files are able to do. Still, it is nice to use in camera JPEG’s while I am merely doing point and shot. The camera is really solid, not to metion the build quality which is excellent. The main scroll wheel is much better than the one in my 30D which I always felt was a little soft on the clicks. I’m worried that for the first time on this day I got the err99 that a lot of people have reported and I can only hope that it was a one off and not a sign of what’s to come as a result of a hardware failure in a camera which is almost new. There are a good deal of comments out there on dpreview. com discussing these issues and I would suggest that you read them. All in all, I’m content with the upgrade (assuming the err99 doesn’t become a recurrent problem), although when it comes to the images, I do not understand what makes up for the upgrade price for any 30D owners, let alone the 40D owners. The main reasons I upgraded would be the new screen that at last enables me to check focus and also the sensor cleaner (Which is great because dust was always a problem on my 30D sensor).

I recently ditched my 30D for the 50D. Among the principal reasons I decided to get the 50D instead of waiting for the 5D MkII model to come out was that I was able to utilize everything I already had for my 30D since they are compatible. This is a great feature because I can continue to use my batteries, grip and remote without a problem. What caught my attetion is the new screen, it is perhaps the most perceptible upgrade to anyone who has used a 30 or 20D, the screen is really clear and the better resolution is visible from the instant you turn it on. The Digic 4 system is a far easier sustem to get along with when you compare it with previous models, not to mention the user custom menu which permits you to configure your preferred settings all in one place.

If I have to be honest though, the 15 megapixel sensor is overkill in my opinion. Anoter thing is that there’s a tad much attention driven to the ‘make it higher everytime’ aspect of these gadgets given by the camera companies. I would consider 8 megapixels to be more than enough for the average person and it’s big enough for most regular size prints, I have printed almost 13 inches without a problem. The one advantage the extra mega pixels will give you is the ability to crop closer in post processing. The Live view feature is nice, but I probably won’t use it. Among the causes I prefer the DSLR over the point and shoot is the way the view finder allows me to see the shot and frame exactly the way I want with no distractions. I personally think that Live view is a curious feature to store in a mid to high range DSLR, but I’m able to see where the company would like to aim for those folks accustomed to point and shoot cameras.

Indeed, we all tend to include this brand on our criteria list when searching for a good high-end digital camera, especially because it is among top rated on customer reviews websites. To keep you up to date with the latest Canon camera releases, I’ll tell you about the new Canon EOS 50D, comparing it with the previous model, Canon EOS 40D, which many of your friends probably already use and told you how superb pictures it produces whenever they have some impressive landscape to shoot. Both camera models are digital single-lens reflex models displaying on the LCD screen the exact image that will be captured after releasing the shutter button. Canon EOS 50D is already a highly wanted model dedicated to the same consumer sector as the previous model, and comes with few new enhancements, starting with the image processor which now is a DIGIC 4. Besides superior color reproduction and sharp details, it enables continuous 6. 3 frames per second shooting for 90 JPEG pictures on Ultra Direct Memory Access Compact Flash cards and 60 JPEG or 16 RAW images on Compact Flash cards. The Face Detection Live Mode allows you to capture 35 faces and never miss that perfect position which is very hard to capture without the continuous shooting feature. Canon EOS 50D provides 15. 1 effective megapixels for 4752 x 3168 pictures, with a CMOS APS-C size sensor improved to reach 12,800 sensitivity with no noise.

There are 4 levels of ISO with Standard, Weak, Strong and None noise reduction settings. Also, the LCD screen was improved to display the images in 920K colors at 160 degrees, both horizontally and vertically, and what you see is what you get later on your HDTV, via the HDMI connectivity. The camera has 0. 95x viewfinder magnification, f/5. 6 aperture, AF Microadjustment, Creative Full Auto setting allowing you to adjust images during continuous shootings, and support for 7. 1MP sRAW1 and 3. 8MP sRAW2 recording formats. Self-Cleaning Sensor Unit is not missing either, as well as the Dust Delete Data software part and the E-TTL II flash metering system. So many design enhancements for such a small price difference!

Canon EOS 40D Versus Nikon D300The Canon EOS 40D combines Canon’s tremendous know-how in both the digital and photographic worlds, creating a camera that not only does everything one would expect of a traditional digital SLR, but one that incorporates staggering leaps forward in technological innovation. Nikon D300 features a new Active D-Lighting mode that, when enabled, provides remarkable real-time highlight and shadow correction with optimized image contrast. Both of them are excellent cameras. So which one should you buy? The Canon is a good bit lighter and more modestly sealed against dust and water. The Nikon is heftier and more weatherproof, making it the better choice in hostile conditions. In addition, both cameras have self-cleaning sensor systems that automatically remove dust at startup/shutdown. Both viewfinders are generous for cropped-sensor cameras, but the Nikon’s is slightly larger, brighter and clearer. And it covers 100% of the frame, versus the 40D’s 95%. The LCD screen on the D300 is nothing less than amazing. The D300’s record-setting 920,000 dots are twice as sharp as the 40D’s 230,000 dots, enabling us to see much finer details. Live View shooting, is available in both cameras, which let us compose live, sensor-generated images on the LCD screen instead of sighting through the optical finder. Each allowed us to focus in Live View by hitting the AF-On button, which momentarily swung the mirror down, engaged the optical AF sensors, then flipped it up again. But the Nikon (not the Canon) flipped its mirror down every time we shot, disabling Live View until we reengaged it manually (by half-pressing the shutter release).
